What are essential oils?
Essential oils are incredibly complex and highly concentrated plant oils. The oil can come from leaves, flowers, shrubs, roots and seeds. Each plant has its own unique oil. In the oil are hundreds of different compounds called constituents. These constituents work within the plant cells to keep the plant alive and healthy by protecting it and repairing it.
Essential oils carry nutrients and oxygen to the different parts of the plant, and do the same within our body. They are extremely small, giving them the ability to penetrate the cell wall (in plants) and cell membranes (in animals and humans) and rejuvenate at the cellular level.
Depending on the chemical constituents found within the essential oil, they can help each body system function optimally. The immune system, digestive system, respiratory system, circulatory system, muscular system, endocrine system, and nervous system. They can also elevate your mood, increase your energy, encourage relaxation, promote restful sleep, manage stress, ease frustrations, and improve mental clarity. They can support your entire body and promote health and vitality.
Most people have experienced the amazing power of essential oils. Think about the energizing aroma of a fresh squeezed lemon or the calming influence of a lavender bouquet. Essential oils not only help our bodies internally they smell wonderful!
